The investigation involved journalists from Verbatim Investigations. They posed as potential Reform UK supporters. One journalist claimed his wealthy US-based father wanted to support the party.

Reform UK Foreign Donations and £30,000 Poll

The undercover team discussed a polling project worth around £30,000 with Reform officials.

Reform commissioned the poll through JL Partners. The supposed US donor paid for the project.

The poll later received coverage in The Telegraph and The Times. Neither newspaper knew about the alleged connection between the poll and the foreign donor.

The investigation also claimed that Reform did not report the financial benefit to the Electoral Commission.

Reform Officials Discuss Funding

The undercover footage features several senior Reform figures.

Dan Jukes, a senior adviser to Nigel Farage, discussed a possible funding structure with the undercover journalist. The proposed arrangement involved the US-based father and his UK-based son.

James Orr, Reform UK’s head of policy, also discussed the polling project.

Orr reportedly suggested that Farage would not know about some details of the arrangement. He also described the proposal as legitimate.

Jukes later described the polling as “clandestine” and “hugely important.”

At a Reform reception, Jukes also appeared to introduce the undercover operative as a potential donor for an “off the book project.”

Farage Praises Polling Results

Nigel Farage later met the supposed US donor in Clacton.

During the meeting, Farage appeared pleased with the polling results. He described the project as “amazing” and praised its value.

Farage also appeared to say that the strategy had worked.

The footage has now increased pressure on Reform UK. It has also renewed questions about Reform UK foreign and campaign funding.

Reform UK Denies Breaking the Law

Reform UK strongly rejected the allegations.

The party called the investigation a hoax. It said foreign-funded climate activists had targeted the party while posing as potential donors.

Reform also questioned the way Channel 4 edited the footage. The party argued that edited recordings may not show the full context of each conversation.

The party said it maintains a strict process for checking potential donors. It also said that its process follows Electoral Commission requirements.

Calls for an Investigation

The undercover report has triggered political criticism.

Labour chair Bridget Phillipson called the allegations serious. She urged Farage to prove that his senior team had followed electoral law.

Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey also called for investigations by the police and the Electoral Commission.

The controversy comes just before Reform UK’s party conference. Farage is scheduled to address the conference as pressure over the party’s finances grows.

Overseas Donors Under Pressure

Reform UK has received millions of pounds from wealthy donors. Some of those donors have strong links to countries outside the UK.

Electoral Commission figures show that Reform received more than £5 million in donations during the second quarter of the year.

Crypto entrepreneur Ben Delo remains one of the party’s major donors. He has previously given Reform millions of pounds.

Christopher Harborne has also provided major financial support. He has given millions to Reform and personally to Farage.

The government now plans tighter rules for overseas political donations. The proposed legislation includes a £100,000 annual cap for certain overseas-based donors.

Donors would also need to meet residency and electoral-register requirements.

Reform UK Foreign Donations Under Growing Scrutiny

The latest investigation adds to the pressure surrounding Reform UK foreign donations.

Authorities could now face calls to examine the undercover claims. Any official investigation could determine whether Reform officials broke electoral rules.

For now, Reform UK denies wrongdoing. The party maintains that its donor checks follow the law.

The dispute could become a major issue for Farage as Reform UK prepares for its party conference and faces continued questions about political funding.
